Tour Description

The island of Koh Mook, known as the pearl of the Andaman Islands, promises an unforgettable escape.

Koh Mook (also spelled Koh Muk) is famous for its stunning Emerald Cave, which can only be accessed by swimming through a tunnel. With very few resorts and still preserved from mass tourism, this charming little island is mostly inhabited by sea gypsies. It’s the perfect starting point to explore the paradise islands south of Koh Lanta, including Koh Hai (or Koh Ngai), Koh Kradan, and Koh Rok.

What you will experience

During your stay, set off with your captain to explore the impressive and fascinating Emerald Cave — a true natural wonder of the region. Only accessible by sea and swimming through a tunnel, it reveals a hidden white-sand beach and stunning turquoise water.

You’ll also enjoy a full day at sea discovering the most beautiful nearby beaches and underwater spots: Koh Kradan and its secret paradise-like shores, with multiple snorkeling stops throughout the day in crystal-clear waters!

Amon Tour has crafted this itinerary to help you discover a unique and authentic island-side of Thailand, full of hidden gems.

Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Koh Mook

Departure from Ao Nang to Trang pier (private vehicle, approx. 2 hours), followed by a traditional boat transfer to Koh Mook (about 20 minutes). Check-in at your bamboo bungalow, just a few steps from the beach. Free time to relax.

Overnight stay in your bungalow on Koh Mook.

Day 2Emerald Cave

Meals: Breakfast
Morning at leisure.

3:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Koh Mook & Sunset Tour

  • Explore Koh Mook’s coral reefs

  • Emerald Cave: Discover a hidden lagoon tucked inside the island. The only way to reach it is by swimming through a sea tunnel that opens into a stunning tropical paradise — lush greenery, white sand beach, and dramatic limestone cliffs. Once a hideout for smugglers, the cave is said to have been used by pirates to stash their treasure.
While it’s a popular spot often visited from Koh Lanta, late afternoon is the perfect time to truly soak in the magic of this natural wonder, away from the crowds.

  • Freedom Beach: Enjoy a magical sunset on a secluded private beach.

Advice to Travelers

💰 Money & Payments
Most payments in Thailand are made in cash. It’s a good idea to ask your bank to temporarily increase your withdrawal limit during your trip.
Only exchange a small amount at the airport (max. €50), as commissions are higher there. Instead, use major Thai national banks in the city, such as Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, or Siam Commercial Bank. Avoid exchanging money in France.

📱 Mobile & Connectivity
Bring an unlocked phone to buy a local SIM card at a very low cost.
This will save you money from the first minute, even for calls to France, and provide unlimited internet. Recommended networks: True Move, AIS, or DTAC.

🦟 Mosquito Protection
Buy mosquito repellent locally (available in convenience stores like 7-Eleven)—it’s far more effective than those sold in France.

🎒 What to Pack?
For Public Transport: Bring a light jacket—buses and trains are often over-air-conditioned.
