Trip Description

Khao Sok – Krabi – Koh Mook

Located in the province of Surat Thani, less than two hours from Ao Nang, embark on an off-the-beaten-path adventure to the breathtaking Khao Sok National Park. Immerse yourself in the heart of the jungle in all its splendor—an untouched paradise covered in pristine rainforest. Towering karst mountains, stunning lakes, impressive caves, waterfalls, gibbons, encounters with elephants, and treehouse stays… A wide range of activities awaits you for an unforgettable nature escape.

Incredible Krabi! This coastal province is home to countless natural wonders that never fail to amaze. Add to that white sandy beaches, waterfalls, coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, caves, and numerous jungle-covered islands. It’s no surprise that tourism has been booming in recent years. Like Phang Nga, Krabi is famous for its fascinating limestone karsts rising dramatically above the azure waters.

Koh Mook (or Koh Muk) is best known for its stunning Emerald Cave, accessible only by swimming—a true pirate hideout! With very few resorts and still preserved from mass tourism, this charming little island is mainly inhabited by sea gypsies. It’s the perfect starting point for exploring the paradise islands south of Koh Lanta, including Koh Hai (or Koh Ngai), Koh Kradan, and Koh Rok.

What you will experience

Amon Tour has designed a variety of enriching activities to help you fully discover the beauty of Southern Thailand. Enjoy our exclusive private tours and explore Krabi’s natural wonders: the preserved region of Thalane, Phang Nga Bay (including Koh Yao Noi, Koh Kudu, and Koh Roi), the Railay Peninsula, and the local islands of Ao Nang (such as Koh Poda and Chicken Island).

On the itinerary: Hike through ancient rainforest, kayak through mangroves, relax on dreamy beaches surrounded by towering karst cliffs, swim in breathtaking lagoons, and snorkel in pristine marine environments.

An unforgettable journey that will leave you with incredible memories and stories to share for a lifetime!

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Krabi, transfer to Khao Sok: Elephant encounter and jungle dinner

Meals: Dinner
English-speaking Thai guide

Upon arrival at Krabi Airport, you will be greeted by our driver and transferred to Khao Sok (approximately a 2-hour drive). Check into your treehouse bungalow (available from 2 PM) and take some time to relax. Lunch at the resort is at your leisure.

At 2:45 PM, meet your guide for a special encounter with happy elephants… These elephants enjoy a life free from constraints (except for the rule of not destroying neighboring fields!). If you take good care of them by feeding them properly, they will let you pet and observe them as they follow you through the palm plantation to a small river. If you’re lucky, they might decide to take a dip—just watch and enjoy the moment! There’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing their happiness.

Around 5 PM, return to the resort.

At 6 PM, get ready for a unique jungle experience that offers an authentic way to discover nature. As you explore the surroundings with your guide, an assistant will prepare a delicious traditional jungle-style dinner, using bamboo tableware and time-honored cooking techniques.

After dinner, your guide will take you on a night safari, where you’ll get the chance to observe nocturnal wildlife such as insects, toads, and spiders. This adventure is the perfect way to experience the jungle’s natural beauty while learning about its rich fauna and flora.

Overnight stay in Khao Sok Village

Day 2Departure for the lake, hike through primary jungle and karst cave

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
English-speaking Thai guide

Our driver will meet you at your Khao Sok hotel reception around 8:30 AM. After approximately 1.5 hours of driving, you’ll arrive at the lake pier, where your guide and boat will be waiting for you.

As your captain navigates toward your floating bungalow resort, he will take a few scenic detours to let you admire the breathtaking beauty of the lake. Upon arrival, you can settle into your floating bungalow and enjoy your first swim in the crystal-clear waters.

After a delicious Thai lunch, you’ll have the afternoon to swim, explore the surroundings by canoe, take a relaxing nap, or simply marvel at the stunning scenery.

In the late afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the shores of the lake. As the light shifts with the approaching evening, your guide will track wildlife—macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, hornbills, and eagles—all searching for their last meal of the day.

Return to your floating bungalow at nightfall, where a freshly caught lake fish, a flavorful curry, and other Thai delicacies await you for dinner.

Overnight in your floating bungalow

Day 3Continuation of your stay on the lake. Continuation to Krabi

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
English-speaking Thai guide

Wake up early to the sounds of the jungle, possibly even the calls of gibbons! Your guide will take you on a second boat safari at 7 AM (don’t worry, you can grab a coffee beforehand). This is the best time to observe wildlife—if you’re lucky, you might spot macaques drinking at the water’s edge, a monitor lizard basking on a branch, dusky leaf monkeys leaping from tree to tree, or even a group of gibbons in full chorus. (Of course, nothing is guaranteed—nature has its own rhythm!).

After a hearty breakfast, your guide will lead you on a jungle trek to explore the heart of the rainforest. The chosen route will depend on your floating hotel’s location, visitor numbers, and your preferences and abilities. The trek lasts between 2 to 3 hours (shorter if preferred) and may include a cave visit or a viewpoint. Regardless of the path, it will be filled with exciting discoveries.

After one last refreshing swim, your captain will take you back to the lake pier around 11 AM. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before your private transfer to Klong Mueang, near Ao Nang, Krabi’s seaside resort town (about 2 hours by car).

On the way, your driver will stop at Wat Bang Ton Temple, dedicated to Rama X, the King of Thailand, where you’ll have free time to explore.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted in French, then settle into your bungalow and relax.

Overnight in Klong Mueang (Krabi)

Day 4The wonders of Phang Nga Bay

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
English-speaking Thai guide

Departure at 9:30 AM. Board a traditional boat and set off for the heart of Phang Nga Bay: Koh Yao Noi.
Koh Yao (or Long Island) consists of two main islands located between Phuket and Krabi. In the north of Koh Yao, we will visit Koh Yao Noi (the smaller island)—the perfect spot to admire the stunning limestone formations of Phang Nga Bay.

Here, you will witness hundreds of limestone karsts of various shapes and sizes, surrounded by secluded beaches, including Koh Kudu, a peaceful island with centuries-old trees. The spectacular scenery is often compared to Halong Bay in Vietnam.

We will also stop at Koh Roi, a breathtaking island with a hidden lagoon, where you can relax, swim, and enjoy a delicious Thai buffet on the beach.

Return around 4:00 PM.

Be amazed by the lush mangrove forest, an incredible canyon, fascinating karst caves, and crystal-clear lagoons, offering breathtaking views of Krabi’s unspoiled nature.

After this enchanting adventure, enjoy a delicious meal at “Le Bac à Sable,” our favorite hidden gem nestled on Thalane Beach.

In the afternoon, explore more natural wonders, such as Tha Pom Klong Song Nam or (depending on your preference) the Sa Kheo natural pools. Prepare to be mesmerized by the unique flora, where mangroves and rare local trees have adapted to this extraordinary environment.

Advice to Travelers

💰 Money & Payments

  • Most payments in Thailand are made in cash. It’s a good idea to ask your bank to temporarily increase your withdrawal limit during your trip.
  • Only exchange a small amount at the airport (max. €50), as commissions are higher there. Instead, use major Thai national banks in the city, such as Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, or Siam Commercial Bank. Avoid exchanging money in France.

📱 Mobile & Connectivity

Bring an unlocked phone to buy a local SIM card at a very low cost.

This will save you money from the first minute, even for calls to France, and provide unlimited internet. Recommended networks: True Move, AIS, or DTAC.

🦟 Mosquito Protection

Buy mosquito repellent locally (available in convenience stores like 7-Eleven)—it’s far more effective than those sold in France.

🎒 What to Pack?

For Public Transport: Bring a light jacket—buses and trains are often over-air-conditioned.

For Your Sea Excursions:

  • Cap or hat

  • Eco-friendly sunscreen

  • UV-protective T-shirt

  • Sunglasses

  • Beach towel

  • A change of clothes & a rain jacket (just in case!)

  • Water-resistant shoes

  • A small backpack for day trips

Snorkeling Equipment: Masks, snorkels, and life jackets will be provided.
